Welcome
Welcome to one of the oldest cafes in Österlen. As early as 1939, Café Sågmöllan opend up its doors. 19 years had passed since the last mill foreman closed their business. Between 1874 and 1920, here was a combined flourmill and sawmill powered by a four meter in diameter large water wheel. The creek that supplied the wheel was not large, but it created an above-case water that allowed the gravity work to its full power. Here, boards were sawed to the boat builders at Kivik and Vitemölla while flour was grained in the mill.
The café is housed in the small industrial premises where flour was milled, and the wooden planks were stored. The furniture, in which our customers are sitting, were specially ordered for the opening in 1939. What if they could speak?
We serve a classic Swedish fika with brew coffee (the tastiest in the area’s according to many) and waffles, apple cake, mud cake, raspberry crumble pie, biscuits and more. Between 24/6-13-8 we also hav a small selection of sandwiches and toasts.
Since we specialize in gluten and dairy-free, almost all of it is. It’s just the cinnamon buns that still contains gluten. However, we also have gluten-free cinnamon buns. In addition, there are also egg-free and vegan options for those who so desire, but not on the entire range. For those of you who need a sugar-free coffee bread, we also have a couple of options for you. Our motto is that there should be something for, almost, everyone!
